Turkeys

Tank

Tank is a handsome chap that arrived at Blackbird Ranch the summer of 2019 with his best-bird-bro, Morty. Both Tank and Morty and 8 other turkeys were found wandering the busy streets of downtown Seattle! No one really knew why they were there, or where they came from. After no one claimed them, they were placed in sanctuary care. We are head over heals in love with Tank and his buddy, Morty and adore their sweet, soft chirps and vocalizations. Tank loves to munch on blueberry snacks and romaine lettuce as summer treats. Tank spends his day playing in water, foraging in the grass and of course doing bro stuff with Morty, who is always close by!

Mortimer and his brother Tank arrived at Blackbird Ranch in the summer of 2019. They, along with 8 other turkeys, were found wandering the streets of downtown Seattle. It’s unclear why they were there, and no nearby farms claimed them, so they were placed into different sanctuaries for care. Mortimer and Tank do just about everything together, and one of their favorite activities is scratching around in the dirt for bugs. Morty’s favorite snack is cantaloupe and grapes. Morty has the sweetest little voice too, when he’s not gobbling, he makes soft little chirps to show he’s content.

Jack

Jack Tripper is a Royal Palm Turkey. This breed is considered a “heritage breed”, and they are most commonly found on smaller, private farms, rather than in large productions facilities. Jack looks big, but underneath all that fluff, he actually is a rather small bird. Jack and his two lady friends, Chrissy Snow and Janet Wood, were rescued in March of 2020. The trio were not being cared for due to their person becoming very ill and they needed a soft place to land. Jack spends his day guarding his ladies, he very much loves them and is a real gentleman. He will never stray from from his gal-pals.
