Howard

Howard is a Silver Appleyard drake, that had been abandoned at a public park in Lewiston, Idaho. He was a young boy, not able to fend for himself, and was found by a park ranger, lethargic, skinny and weak. We brought him to the ranch and nursed him back to health and got him plumped up a bit. Howard loves to go hunting for worms in the mud, and loves blueberries. He is often found in his pond enjoying a nice bath.
Quack

Quack was rescued in the Spring of 2024 after being at a local pond as a baby. He is a domestic duck, a Cayuga, so we are certain he was dumped. He was so young, he didn’t have real feathers, just fuzz covering his body. Given the timing and his age, it’s our guess that he was an Easter gift to someone, and they decided they didn’t want him any longer. This happens all too often. Domestic ducks have no survival skills, as they have never had to forage for themselves, seek shelter, or escape predation; they are literally “sitting ducks” for danger. A good samaritan made sure he found his way to safety, and dropped him off at the local veterinary hospital, where we then took over his care. Quack is a quiet duck, and a little on the timid side. We paired him up with Howard, another very quiet duck with a similar personality, and they were instant besties! Quack loves to stick his bill into the mud and forage for worms, but peas are his favorite snack!
